Benefits of Volunteering for the Area Agency on Aging

The benefits of volunteering go beyond the good feeling that comes from helping others - it's also a chance to make new friends, gain new skills and experiences, and be happier and healthier! 

What Programs Need Volunteers?

While each local Area Agency on Aging has different needs, the following programs are in need of volunteers. Contact your local AAA directly to learn about their needs.

PA MEDI - Medicare Insurance Counseling

 PA MEDI volunteers: 

  • Receive special training on all areas of Medicare

  • Explain Medicare options and Medicare rules and notices in an easy-to-understand way

  • Look for savings by comparing local health care plan and prescription drug plan options to meet individual needs

  • Help determine eligibility for Medicare financial assistance programs that could save additional money

Ombudsman Program

  • Work to resolve complaints and issues on behalf of individuals residing in long term care settings, such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes.

  • Pennsylvania Empowered Expert Residents (PEER) - Individuals living in long-term care settings who have been trained to advocate to improve the quality of life in their homes

Home-Delivered & Congregate Meals

  • Meal preparation or service

  • Meal delivery or transportation

Senior Companion Program

  • Adults age 55 and older provide assistance and friendship to seniors

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

  • Adults age 55 and older provide community assistance in various ways

Health & Wellness

  • Assist with programs that promote healthier lifestyles

Senior Community Centers

Center needs vary but may include: 

  • Programming and special event planning

  • Assistance with congregate meals

  • Clerical assistance

The Clearfield County Area Agency of Aging, Inc. is a charitable, non-profit corporation dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of the highest quality health and human services to residents of Clearfield County. We will accomplish this mission by committing to our guiding principles of Integrity, Coordinated Community Partnerships, Best Service, Progressive Attitudes, Professionalism, Teamwork and Investment in our Employees and Volunteers.

Funding comes from the Federal Older American's Act, Pennsylvania Lottery funds, Client Contributions, USDA and other local  Funds. Services are available to all older persons age 60 and who are residents of Clearfield County.
